Our Company

The Yiptong name has been associated with trade and commerce in Mauritius since the beginning of the 20th Century. Yiptong is today one of the major distributors of consumer goods in the country.

Backed by one hundred years of experience in business, our enterprise has continuously adapted itself in the midst of an increasingly competitive market. With a rigorous and well-structured organisation, our fleet of 30 delivery vehicles covers all trade outlets across the country including corner shops, petrol stations and all major supermarkets. We have one of the most comprehensive distribution network in Mauritius.

Our Heritage

The Yiptong family started out in business in 1918 with small grocery store in the northern region of Mauritius. Several years later the family established its trade in the heart of Port Louis, the capital city, where the enterprise expanded its activities into the import, wholesale and retail business.

In 1960, the company pioneered the use of LPG (liquid petroleum gas) in Mauritius. As proof of its success, this business unit was bought out in 1987 by a petroleum consortium, comprising of Total and Esso.

Along the years the company has continued its growth by securing commercial agreements with multinational companies and diversifying into other business sectors.

We are consistently listed among the top 100 companies in the country. However, Yiptong remains to this day a family oriented enterprise which ensures that the business ethics and social values instilled by the founder of the enterprise are perpetuated.

Our People

With a workforce of over 100 employees, led by an experienced management team, we can respond in real time to the commercial requirements of our customers and suppliers. Besides our well-established distribution network, our sales representatives and support staff continuously monitor the retail and wholesale trade sector for new opportunities and market evolution.

Our Social Responsibility

Our enterprise contributes over Rs750,000 each year to various NGOs involved in education, medical relief, addiction rehabilitation and environment preservation. We also regularly provide free goods and services for community fund-raising activities.
